Introspection and Persistence: 7 Keys to Thriving in 2025

Today is the last day of 2024, and I have to say it was a year of great introspection. For some odd reason, I experienced three bouts of illness, which forced me to pause, capture my priorities, and remember my "why." While business growth remains essential, this year reminded me of the importance of finding joy amidst the pursuit of abundance as an entrepreneur and leader.

The new year often brings us moments to reflect on the changes we've experienced. We may look at shifts in relationships or professional dynamics, noticing how we contend with different personalities on the job and in our personal lives. There may be individuals who only come to us when they need advice or support but who may never invite us to their dining room table. There are moments of closed doors and lost opportunities, but no matter what, I’ve always observed that you cannot separate personal and professional life when it comes to goal attainment and satisfaction.

If you don’t feel energetic, joyful, hopeful, and excited, it will impact how you approach work and relationships. A season of feeling underappreciated, undervalued, or misunderstood can lead to a bleak outlook on the future. That is why, every year, I embrace an "incubation period"—a time to get still and clear about what truly matters. While Albert Einstein may have famously sat for eight-hour stretches of thought, for me, 40 minutes can often do the trick.

As I thought through my experiences of 2024, I realized there were some wise inner nudges I needed to listen to. These insights helped me realign with my goals, and I want to share them with you as 7 Keys to Thriving in 2025.

1. Stay True to Your Vision

Sometimes it’s hard for others to understand your vision, especially if they’re struggling to find their own path. Your passion and light may feel overwhelming to them, but that doesn’t mean you should dim it. Keep nurturing your dreams and moving forward authentically.

2. Prioritize Self-Care

Taking time to nurture yourself is vital. Whether it’s through seeking support from a therapist, a coach, or practicing positive self-talk, self-care strengthens your resolve. Research shows that intrinsic motivation—your internal drive—is one of the strongest components of resilience as an entrepreneur and leader.

3. Let Go of What Doesn’t Serve You

Holding onto past challenges or unresolved conflicts can weigh you down. Forgive what needs forgiving, let go of emotional burdens, and set firm boundaries to protect your peace. When you clear away negativity, you create room for new opportunities to flourish.

4. Create a Focused Growth Plan

As you look ahead to 2025, turn off distractions and give yourself uninterrupted time to reflect on where you’d like to see the greatest change. Is it in your health, finances, relationships, or business? Use a calendar to map out monthly goals and integrate them into your routine.

5. Rediscover Joy

Reconnect with the wonder you felt as a child. Watch a favorite childhood movie, listen to a nostalgic song, or go outside to experience nature. Joy fuels creativity, and embracing it can reignite your energy and enthusiasm for life.

6. Celebrate Your Strengths

It’s easy to focus on what we lack, but today, take a moment to acknowledge your resilience and all that you’ve accomplished. Give yourself credit for your strengths and use them as a foundation for your vision in 2025.

7. Build Moments of Stillness

Incorporate "incubation periods" into your life. Whether it’s through journaling, meditation, or simply sitting quietly, these moments allow clarity and creativity to surface. Even brief pauses can help you realign with your purpose.
